Thursday, June 20, 2024 From June 27th to July 3rd, 2024, Air New Zealand lounges in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Queenstown will host a special celebration for Matariki, featuring a menu inspired by Māori culinary traditions. The event, titled “Matariki Heri Kai – the feast of Matariki,” will present a variety of dishes such as roasted sweetcorn chowder, rēwena bread, apple cider pork with cabbage and puha pesto, and charred sweet potatoes drizzled with honey. A seafood highlight will be cured salmon served on seeded lavosh.

For those who might miss the exclusive Matariki offerings, Air New Zealand’s lounges will also introduce their new winter menu, which includes seasonal delights like pork belly with spiced plum sauce, roasted vegetables with tahini dressing, spiced pumpkin soup, and potato gnocchi with pumpkin crème sauce. Additionally, the lounges have broadened their breakfast selections to include veal sausage, skillet sweet potato hash, and bagels topped with raspberry jam, cream cheese, and Biscoff spread. Kylie McGillivray-Brown, Air New Zealand’s General Manager of Customer Experience, notes that the lounge menus are refreshed periodically to reflect the best seasonal ingredients available.

“We also take customer feedback into account when reviewing our menus. For example, our lounge customers told us they wanted more options to customise their dishes, so we’re now offering more condiments like hot chili sauce, harissa and mint yoghu.
