Tuesday, June 18, 2024 This week in Japan, Air New Zealand’s Chief Executive Officer Greg Foran announced a significant increase in the airline’s capacity to Tokyo, aimed at stimulating inbound tourism to New Zealand. From November to March, Air New Zealand will add 30,000 seats to its Tokyo route, enhancing options for Japanese travelers looking to visit New Zealand during the peak season. This strategic move is part of the airline’s broader initiative to increase capacity to key Asian destinations, including Singapore and Taipei.

The increased capacity on the Tokyo route will primarily be supported by the airline’s Boeing 777 aircraft, known for their large seating capacity and premium cabin options. Each 777 aircraft offers 342 seats, including 44 in Business Premier and 54 in Premium Economy. This expansion not only provides more seats but also more opportunities for customers to enjoy enhanced comfort and space during their journey.

Greg Foran emphasized that the decision to boost capacity was driven by strong demand from the Japanese market. “Japan is an incredibly important visitor market for the New Zealand tourism industry,” Foran said. “Additional seats over our busiest season mean more inbound travel from Japan.

This increase in capacity reflects the demand we’re seeing and will boost economic growth in tourism for New Zealand.” In addition to increasing the number of flights, Air New Zealand is also committed to improving the travel experience. T.
