The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for Kozhikode until Saturday, reflecting the severity of the situation. The inclement weather led to the cancellation of multiple flights, including those bound for Muscat, Riyadh, and Abu Dhabi.

These cancellations were attributed to the need to reroute planes on Wednesday due to poor weather conditions. An Air India flight from Doha to Kozhikode was rerouted first to Kannur and then to Mangalore, causing significant delays for the passengers. A red alert forecasts extremely heavy rainfall in Pathanamthitta and Idukki, while an orange alert indicates very heavy rain in multiple districts, including Kozhikode.

The weather department also predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the state, advising fishermen to avoid going to sea until further notice. The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has issued warnings and advisories to ensure publ.
