AER Lingus pilots could get a massive pay rise if a new Labour Court recommendation is accepted by both parties in a major boost for holidaymakers. The Labour Court has issued a recommendation in a last-ditch attempt to end strike action by the airline's pilots. They have recommended a 17.

75 per cent pay rise, which, if accepted by both the Iapla and Aer Lingus, it will end the dispute that has now impacted over 80,000 passangers. Reacting to the Labour Court's proposal, the airline said: “Aer Lingus will carefully review the final recommendation of the Labour Court. "The company will confirm its position following completion of that review.

” It is believed that the recommendation covers a four-year period from Jan 1 2023 to the end of December 2026. The Ialpa told its members that they will not go forward with ramping up their work-to-rule strike in the ongoing dispute. If the Labour Court's proposal is rejected, they would need to seek sanction for any new industrial action from parent union Fórsa's disputes committee.

This will be coming in the coming few days. The potential for a possible breakthrough in the pay dispute has been welcomed by the The Irish Travel Agents Association (ITAA). In a statement ITAA urged both parties to accept the recommendation to end the dispute and called on them to put customers at the centre of the agenda.

Clare Dunne, CEO of the ITAA said: “We are asking both parties to accept the Labour Court’s recommendation. Disputes all end so.
