“Are ICT not just victims of the wider systemic problem facing all employers across the Highlands right now? Figures quoted to me are that across Highland, 50 per cent of school levers will leave the area this year so we’re already seeing a reduction in the working age population which will affect all industries including football. Yes the Highlands is a beautiful place to live but we need more than nice scenery to stop us becoming the retirement capital of the UK. The recent rejection of the battery farm was a dangerous precedent to business wanting to come to the area.
The many empty units in Eastgate are an embarrassment. It’s worrying to see how many headteacher vacancies can’t be filled and heaven forbid Inverness has more than one 10 pin bowling venue! ICT’s decision should be a wake up call to us all that we urgently need a joined up approach to the serious problem affecting our way of life. Now is the time to work together as opposed to pointing the finger at ICT.
