Twitch star xQc says he makes £4,750 a day just from running ads on his stream, and if he stopped he’d lose out on millions every year. The biggest content creators on sites such as YouTube and Twitch make more money in a year than most people would in a lifetime, thanks to lucrative deals with content platforms, sponsorships, fan donations, and merchandise – but it’s often thought the money they make from advertising revenue is relatively limited. xQc is one of the most popular streamers around and as such was in a position to sign a non-exclusivity deal with streaming site Kick last year, worth a staggering £55 million .
However, he’s made it clear that ads are important to him and bring in £1.7 million a year . So while most other streamers won’t be making that much, it is still a major source of income for them.
During a recent stream, xQc was asked by a fan to disable ads on his channel, which prompted the streamer to tell them that he doesn’t like to run ads, but it doesn’t make sense to stop them. ‘Bro, do you have any idea how much I’d lose if I go live and have no ads? Do you have any idea? xQc said. ‘It’s like $6,000 a day.
Watch this,’ he added, while getting the calculator out on his computer. He did the simple calculation of $6,000 (£4,750) times 365, which is $2,190,000 (£1,730,000). ‘The one-click I did today, that removed the ads, literally made me lose $2 million this year.
Just for you. See? I’m so charitable and cool,’ he .
