In a significant step towards modernizing public transport, the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) is set to introduce electronic ticketing machines (ETMs) across its bus fleet within the next two months. These advanced devices will enable passengers to pay using Unified Payments Interface (UPI), debit and credit cards, and other cashless modes.
This innovation not only simplifies the payment process for both passengers and conductors but also promises to enhance the overall travel experience. KSRTC has embarked on a digital transformation journey, starting with the implementation of ETMs. This move is designed to resolve the perennial issue of exact change and streamline transactions.
Passengers will soon be able to pay seamlessly through digital platforms such as Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy emphasizes that this initiative aligns with KSRTC’s broader goal to adopt digital solutions, thereby improving service quality and reducing cash-related disputes.
