Andrew McCarthy seemed to embarrass with an off-handed . The actor made an appearance on to discuss his latest project, Brats, which explores the culture phenomenon of the — a group of actors bound together by the media in the 80s. While reflecting on a different era, he also explained how his age brought a new perspective to his work.

Andrew said: "Well, I thought it would be good to do while we were still ambulatory. In that vain, I turned 60 last year and when you get old, and 60 is the beginning of old, you start to—" The off-handed comment backfired as the camera panned to Whoopi who was pulling a strained expression. While the actress is 68, her co-panelist jumped with an attempt to save the day.

"Well, you're not 60, yet," Joy Behar joked to her friend. To further gloss over the tension, she added: "I think a half century does it, too." The group moved on from the comment relatively quickly, allowing Andrew to finish explaining his point.

He added: "My relationship with my past started to change. I looked back with more affection and things. The interesting part about the Brat Pack to me is I hated it at first and now I've come to realize it's probably the biggest professional blessing of my life and how did my viewpoint on that change over the years.
