This question has sat quietly in its special corner of my mind for quite some time, but I have to say that being a mother really brings that question to the forefront for me now more than ever, and I would love some input. Is the grass really greener on the other side? Nowadays, when I think of greener pastures, I think about a land of opportunity and options. And when I consider greener pastures in the context of being a mother, I think about opportunities and options for my children.

As every parent does, we always want what is best for our children, and I constantly think about whether I am providing the best opportunities and options for my children. My family and I currently live on the beautiful, quiet, quaint and humble island of Rota, with a slow-paced lifestyle that creates a safe and close-knit environment to raise children. For many of us on Rota, the threat of ridiculously priced groceries and wasting gas, the price of gold when leaving our car engines running while in the store, would be our biggest worries.

It truly is a peaceful place and pace for any young family, tucked away in all its emerald glory. However, I can't help but wonder if it may be too tucked away for my children to dream beyond its horizon. After proudly graduating from Rota High School in 2011, I only ventured as far as our neighboring island of Guam.
