When I hear suggestions of worthy volunteer organizations in our region, one of the names that pops up more than others is Second Harvest Food Bank. Not just because of the food and meals they provide for people in our region, but the way they go about it - with respect, integrity and diligence. Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee has been leading the effort to end hunger in Northeast Tennessee since 1986, distributing food and engaging the community in the fight to end hunger through regional partnerships, programs, and education.
As director of the program, Rhonda Chafin has worked to build the Northeast Tennessee brach of Feeding America into a community-centric organization reliant not only on her staff and administration, but also a wonderful group of volunteers who provide a much-needed boost to the workforce.
