A Welsh mum is fighting for her life in a Spanish hospital. Stephanie Williams, 42, needed urgent brain surgery while on holiday in Spain. The mother from Swansea took ill suddenly just hours before she was due to travel back to Wales from her vacation in Alicante, on the sunny Costa Blanca.

Stephanie's condition is presently listed as critical at a Spanish hospital, her loved ones remaining steadfastly at her bedside. The crisis started last Saturday (June 8) reports Walesonline. Whilst preparations to leave for the airport were underway, Stephanie suffered a seizure in her hotel room.

In response to the crisis, Aimee managed to secure £3,000 from relatives back home, ensuring her mother could commence treatment promptly at a local Spanish hospital. While travel insurance is now covering the cost of her treatment at a different hospital, the family had to initially shell out thousands of pounds as Stephanie underwent numerous tests before having urgent brain surgery on Monday (June 10), with costs exceeding £10,000.
