The UK might not typically be the first choice for a beach holiday. In fact, it's no surprise many Brits prefer to head to Spain or Greece for their dose of sun and sea. However, it seems there's a hidden gem on British shores that's capturing hearts – and it's very local.

Brits are calling it 'breathtaking' with travel enthusiast Aiimee Beaufort, known as Mays Map online, stunning her followers with a video showcasing Newborough Beach (Llanddwyn Beach) in Anglesey , Wales. Despite the cool temperatures of the water, the beach is a popular spot for activities like waterboarding, and it remains untouched by major commercial development.

"This beach is where the clear blue sea meets a picturesque forest, incredible mountains and wild horses roam across Lovers Island (Ynys Llanddwyn)," enthused Aiimee. "Ynys Llanddwyn is where legend says the well is home to sacred eels who can predict whether couples will remain together and be successful in love. When I visited I couldn't believe this was in the UK.

It's quickly become one of my favourite places and one of the most special to me." This beach has been touted as a 'must-see summer hotspot' acco.
