Well, what a turnaround for the books. With a new era and a new year, the Wallabies got revenge over Wales for their early 2023 World Cup exit with a 25-16 win in Sydney, starting the Joe Schmidt era in winning fashion. Unlike the World Cup last year, which saw fail mark after fail mark, the new era begins with every single player on both the bench and starting side earning a pass mark – although it was very close to a fail mark for one particular member of the team.
Of interesting areas of note were that the lower scores centred on the centres and backline in both the starting side and the bench. However, many of the forward pack lay towards the other ends of the scale. Rob Valetini has picked up from where he left off with a strong average of 7.
62, topping the averages for the week – but he found himself in good company, with Tom Wright (7.44), Taniela Tupou (7.23) and Jake Gordon (7.
06) also earning strong average marks from The Roar audience. Valetini, Gordon and Wright also earned the distinction of getting the most common rating of 8 – not bad for a first hit out of the year. More Rugby Wallabies player ratings from win over Wales 1.
