HUAWEI Mobile South Africa has launched its latest lineup of flagship phones locally – the Pura 70 series. There are three models landing in SA, the 70, 70 Pro, and 70 Ultra. Today we’re taking a closer look at the device sitting in the middle of the lineup, and unboxing the Pura 70 Pro to see precisely what consumers will get for a smartphone that retails for a recommended R26 999.

Firstly, in usual HUAWEI fashion, the company has not chosen to withhold any accessories or peripherals in the box, which has become a concerning trend for a lot of other flagship phone makers these days. To that end, HUAWEI has included a USB Type-C cable and accompanying charger, with the latter being rare among other phone makers as well. There’s a protective cover too, which is even rarer, along with a SIM tray tool.

All of this means you don’t need to make any additional purchases to get the Pura 70 Pro booted up and ready to use. Shifting focus to the phone itself, HUAWEI is bringing two colour options to SA – White and Black. The rear cover of the Black option we’re unboxing today features a textured matte finish.

The Pro model might sit in the middle, but it is not under-specced by any means. Sticking with the rear, the camera array of the Pura 70 Pro features much of the same DNA that helped the 70 Ultra achieve the top score globally from DXOMARK in terms of camera performance. This is a feat that last year’s HUAWEI P60 Pro also mustered, so it is clear that the company’s.
