Remember Verzuz? It’s back, in X form. Timbaland and Swizz Beats announced at Cannes Lions today that the rap battle show will be migrating to X (née Twitter). “We are beyond thrilled to have found the best partner for Verzuz.
Not only are we excited to have Verzuz on X, we’re excited to help X build the biggest entertainment company in the world,” Swizz Beats said in a statement obtained by Variety . New matchups will reportedly be announced soon. Verzuz was created in 2020, and had its peak moment during lockdown.
In 2021, it was sold to Triller. But after a lawsuit over missed payments, the the pair reacquired Verzuz and extended their ownership stake in Triller. Now Elon is invovled.
The announcement was illustrated with a pic of Swizz and Timbaland, with Musk sandwiched in between wearing a shirt that says “Occupy Mars.” IT’S OFFICIAL, #VERZUZ IS BACK AND 100% BLACK OWNED AGAIN⚡️ LET’S GIVE THE PEOPLE WHATS BEEN MISSING !!!
