Vallejo Pista Sa Nayon is coming back to Vallejo next weekend. The annual celebration of Filipino heritage and history will take place at Mare Island Coal Sheds on Saturday from 11 a.m.

to 6 p.m. Hosted by the Philippine Cultural Committee, this family-friendly event emphasizes the theme “Weaving Generations of Filipino Culture and Traditions,” highlighting the importance of strengthening the social fabric of the Filipino-American community and its families.

The theme sparked Pista’s first-ever Filipino fashion show inspired by Festival Organizer Jennie Mojica’s recent visit to the Philippines. A chance meeting in Baguio with Narda’s Handwoven Arts and Crafts, previously featured in New York’s Couture Fashion Week led to their participation to proudly grace the catwalk with other designers including Lola Weavers (New York/San Jose), Pineapple Industries (New York), La Union Filipiniana (San Diego), Barong Barkada (San Francisco) and Vallejo’s own Barong and formal. A DJ showcase will headline the concert stage by transporting the audience on a trip from the 1980s to present day.

World champion DJ Shortkut, has toured more than 20 countries. Joining the lineup is DJ Glen Aure, former Program Director, Music Director and Mixshow DJ for 106 KMEL; DJ KenFused, featured on KQED, special guest DJs; and visually brought to life with Chapkis Dance, Tech9 Bboyz and special guests. “This year is really special,” Mojica said.
