Pinehurst Resort’s No. 2 course is the site of this week’s 124th U.S.

Open . The North Carolina track will host the tournament for the fourth time, the last being in 2014. The field of 156 features seven players from Canada, looking to become the first Canadian to win America’s national championship.

Here is how they are all trending heading into the third major of the year and how each of their games set up for Pinehurst. Corey Conners Last five PGA Tour finishes: T20, 6, T26, T13, T11 The Listowel, Ont., native will try to do something this week that he has not done in his career: make the cut at the U.

S. Open. Conners has teed it up in the tournament five times, failing to qualify for the weekend on each occasion.

On paper, Conners possesses specific skills needed to compete at the U.S. Open.

He is very accurate, ranking second on tour in strokes gained approach and 31st in strokes gained off the tee. However, it isn’t hard to figure out what has held him back from succeeding: his short game. He sits outside the top 120 in strokes gained around the greens (121st) and putting (141st).

The good news for Conners is he heads into the week playing his best golf of the year. He picked up his first top 10 of the season at the RBC Canadian Open and followed that up with a T20 at the Memorial. If his iron game is on point, he won’t have to rely on his shaky short game as much.
