Monday, May 27, 2024 Pearl Hoareau-Kakooza has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Uganda Tourism Board by Uganda’s Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Tom R. Butime. She was seen with the Vice President of Uganda and various ministers at the official opening ceremony of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE), East Africa’s premier tourism event.
Pearl is the daughter of Noella Hoareau (née Figaro) of Mont Buxton, who relocated to Uganda from the Seychelles in 1958. Her father, Jean Hoareau, also moved to Uganda in 1958 and married Noella in 1959. Pearl and her two siblings were all born in Uganda.
Jean Hoareau is the Managing Director and Owner of FCM Travel Solutions, a tour and travel agency in Kampala. Pearl also serves as the Chairperson of the Uganda Association of Travel Agents. Alain St.
Ange, the President of the African Tourism Board and former Minister of Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports, and Marine of the Seychelles, met with Pearl in Kampala to congratulate her on her new appointment. Mr. St.
