England started their campaign with a 1-0 win over Serbia as they look to right the wrongs of UEFA Euro 2020. Jude Bellingham's historic goal proved to be the winner between the two sides. New Delhi: With the first round of matches for Group C now being completed, England take control of their Group being the only team in their group that won their game as they edge past Serbia 1-0 in Arena AufSchalke.

Gareth Southgate’s men started the game brightly, threatening the Serbian goal in the opening 10 minutes of the match. Jude Bellingham, England’s history maker on the night, made sure that his side’s dominance early on didn’t go in vain as he headed home beautifully from a Bukayo Saka cross to put his side ahead in the 13th minute. While an early goal typically is a sign of an onslaught to come from the scorers, it proved not to be the case this time around.

England looked for a second goal all through the game but it never came. Bukayo Saka, England’s best player in the first half, created numerous chances for his side, terrorising the opposition down the right flank but the English players just couldn’t provide the finishing touches to his dangerous crosses. As the game progressed, Serbia began to dominate England, pushing Southgate’s men into their own half for large periods of the second half.

It was a similar story for Serbia’s attack as well, as even they created a host of chances to get a goal back and draw the game level, but just couldn’t find the bac.
