Two die inhaling toxic gas inside septic tank Two workers died reportedly after inhaling toxic gas inside a septic tank at Damudya upazila in Shariatpur on the early hours of Friday. The incident occurred around 1:30am on Friday at North Damudya area under ward No. 9 of Darul Aman union in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Malek Sheikh, 45, son of Dulu Sheikh from West Tekani of Sonatala upazila in Bogura district, and Liton Bepari, 35, son of Afsar Bepari from East Tekani in the same area. According to police and Fire Service, the incident happened when Malek and Liton started cleaning the septic tank at a house of the area. Initially, they were using a pipe for sewage disposal.

Around 1:30am, Liton entered the tank and suddenly fell unconscious. Malek entered the tank to rescue him but also fell unconscious. Realisling the matter, the household members contacted Damudya Fire Service, who rushed there and rescued the unconscious workers.

They were taken to Damudya Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead. Pradeep Kirtaniya, team leader of Damudya Fire Service, said, "We rushed to the scene upon receiving the news. The septic tank was filled with a significant amount of gas.
