A pop-up campsite launched on Anglesey just two years ago has quickly evolved into something rather more eye-catching. As well as offering year-round camping and glamping, the site now hosts wedding guests, music events and a forest school. Last year guests were offered archery and tree-top swings, and this season’s line-up includes hedge foraging, immersive theatre, flower workshops and al fresco massages.

Seren-y-Môr (Star of the Sea), a wild camping site next to ancient woodland, also just to happens to offer spectacular views off the north Anglesey coast. The setting for the venture is the Carreglwyd Estate, near Llanfaethlu, whose history pre-dates the Glyndŵr rebellion of the 15th century. Originally established as a reed thatching estate, for centuries it’s been home to sheep and cattle as part of Anglesey’s rich farming heritage.

During the Covid pandemic, the staycation boom prompted Laura Carpenter – daughter of the estate owner – to launch Seren-y-Môr.
