A holiday resort location in Spain (Image: Getty) UK tourists have been warned about a potentially deadly disease after insects were detected at two popular destinations in Spain. Tiger mosquitos have been found on both islands of Mallorca and Minorca, and authorities are dumping pesticide from helicopters in a bid to kill them. The mosquitos are native to Asia but are now spreading in Spain, and they can carry diseases such as dengue fever.
They feed through the day and can pass infections to humans when they bite. The aggressive mosquitos are easy to tell apart from other species thanks to their stripes. They carry yellow fever and dengue as well as Zika, which can cause birth defects.
Their bits os more painful than the European mosquito's and can cause severe swelling, scarring, and in some cases infection. function loadOvpScript(){let el=document.createElement('script');el.
