This Morning star Craig Doyle left fans rushing to support him as he issued a tragic family update on social media. The Irish presenter, who is a regular relief host on the daytime series, has taken a lengthy leave of absence from his gig, and had fans heartbroken when he shared an update on Instagram during his time off. Craig marked five years since his beloved dad Sean died after battling dementia.

Craig, 53, was used to visiting his father regularly in the Irish nursing home where he lived, but Sean passed away shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. Craig took to Instagram Stories with a throwback snap of the pair, grinning as they enjoyed a day out together. He captioned the post: “Five years today.

Just wanted to remind those who knew him of his wonderful kind face.” Craig’s dad was seen holding a bottle of beer and wearing a wide-brimmed sunhat as they lounged in the garden together. The star has previously opened up on his relationship with his father during a segment about walking on This Morning.

Sharing one of his favourite walks from Bray to Greystones, Craig said the hike reminded him of his late dad, explaining on the Bray promenade: “This bit is a particularly special place to me because when my dad was diagnosed with dementia, he was in a nursing home here. “I was able to wheel him up and down this promenade and he could chat to people, and we got coffee and ice cream and it was really lovely happy memories of those days.” Every time he vi.
