New banknotes featuring the portrait of King Charles are being issued today (June 5), marking the first time that the sovereign has been changed on the Bank of England’s notes - and there’s only one place in Manchester you can find them. The new banknotes will l co-circulate alongside those featuring Queen Elizabeth II, and will appear on the £5, £10, £20, and £50 notes – with no other alterations to the existing designs. However, people may only start to see the new notes appear in their change very gradually.

The approach aims to minimise the environmental and financial impact of the change. People will be able to snap up the new-look currency at selected Post Office branche but they will only initially have £5, £10 and £20 denominations of the new banknotes.
