Plans for to reunite in their skivvies for a movie have come to an end this week after the decision to appear in a zombie movie directed by Lav Bodnaruk and Michael Mier was considered too off-brand. Insiders tell that Anthony Field, Greg Page, Jeff Fatt, and Murray Cook were set to appear in , which is currently filming in Brisbane. Filmmakers were hoping to add some big-name Aussie stars to spark the interest of local filmgoers, and the four original Wiggles had been eying the script over the last few weeks.
However, ultimately, it was decided the concept was too off-brand for their core audience to understand. "It is very tongue-in-cheek and the boys were flattered to be asked, but sadly the chance to see 'the originals' back together again has been dashed," our insider reveals. "They loved the script and the idea that was created for them and it would have been exciting to get the band back together but the project just didn't sit right with everyone from the children's entertainment group's management.
" Our source adds that Natalie Bassingthwaighte and Amy Shark have since joined the cast in roles other than those initially offered to The Wiggles. The film stars martial arts legend Chuck Norris, 90s rap artist Vanilla Ice and Aussie favourite Sophie Monk. Its quirky script is being commended, and a few more stars are still being considered for roles.
