The successful implementation of the Ministry of Environment’s Circular Strategy on Environment is indispensable. It requires the involvement of relevant ministries and institutions at all levels and the participation of the public, development partners, and private sector. Cooperation from all stakeholders is continually welcomed to enhance Cambodia’s environmental quality, showcasing the nation’s pride on the international stage.
This is emphasized by Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, during the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on “Cooperation on Environment” between the Ministry of Environment and JT International (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (JTI) on June 27, 2024.
On such occasion, Eang Sophalleth added that the signing of the MoU between the Ministry of Environment and JTI clearly demonstrates the private sector’s participation in improving Cambodia’s environment quality and contributes to the Ministry of Environment’s more successful implementation of the Circular Strategy on Environment. JTI is a private company that allocates a portion of its annual profits to help rural communities, focusing on three main goals: reducing inequality, protecting the environment, and assisting communities in vulnerable areas and disaster situations. As part of its commitment, the company provided 33 waste loading tricycles to the Ministry of Environment to be delivered to the sub-national administrations to assist in garbage collection activitie.
