Times-News’ Drew Nash took a few minutes with Kindsey Taylor to find out what makes The Brass Monkey owner tick. Below is a Q&A that Taylor filled out to give our readers an insight into the business. Editors note: Answers have been lightly edited for cohesion and brevity.

Times-News: How did the Brass Monkey come to be? Kindsey Taylor: The Brass Monkey came out of frustration from working for a corporate retail store and being in a small town without a lot of options. I worked for a local chain store and saw how much business they sent out of town because they didn’t carry quality, higher-end products that were desired by many people in our community. I have a degree in clothing, textiles and design and always planned on working in the fashion industry in some form.
