A teacher who slept with two of her pupils led a “double life” and behaved “as if she was one of the Year 11s”, a school insider has said. Rebecca Joynes, 30, was convicted last week of sexual activity with children, one of whom she became pregnant by. The trial heard how Joynes had abused her position as a "nice" and "fit" teacher, and sickeningly had sex with two teenage boys, named 'Boy A' and 'Boy B', who had crushes on her.
The scandal reportedly triggered a ‘toxic’ environment at the secondary school in Greater Manchester , where “distraught” staff members say the teachers were no longer trusted. One said: “They completely stopped trusting us”, adding rumours began to swirl that Joynes was buying alcohol for teenagers, whom she had invited round to her flat for a party. But the disgraced teacher had never attended work events or interacted with colleagues “on a personal level”, despite having good relationships with them.
The former staff member added: “Rebecca never joined.
