Stree 2 trailer launch: Jyoti Deshpande BREAKS silence on clash with Khel Khel Mein, Vedaa: “We are coming with the feeling of jo jeeta, wohi sikandar; it's not like rumaal daal diya aur date kisi ka ho gaya”

The hilarious and scary trailer of Stree 2 was unveiled today at an exciting event held in a multiplex in Mumbai. The event was graced by the film’s team – actors Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi and Abhishek Banerjee along with director Amar Kaushik and producers Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films and Jyoti Deshpande of Jio Studios. As expected, the team was asked to comment on their film’s clash with Akshay Kumar-starrer Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham-starrer Vedaa.Jyoti Deshpande said, “Whenever a film is ready to clash, it means that we are coming with the feeling of jo jeeta, wohi sikandar. So, we are super-confident.”She continued, “On a lighter note, there are only 52 weeks in a Friday. Our films don’t release during shraadh, our films don’t release during IPL, our films don’t release during Ramzan, etc. Kisi Khan ki film aa gayi, toh hum nahin aate! We would not even clash during a South film’s release. This leaves us with only 20 weeks. Clash toh hoga hi na. So, it is the survival of the fittest. That’s the jungle law (and it applies here).”For another question on clashes, Jyoti Deshpande replied, “It’s not like ‘Fastest fingers fast’ from Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ ya rumaal daal diya aur date kisi ka ho gaya. Anyone can bring their film on a certain date. And 2-3 films can easily come on a holiday weekend. We are quite confident with our film.”For her intro speech, Jyoti said, “Jio Studios’ very first film was Stree (2018). I knew Dinesh Vijan for a very long time. Like he said, hamari kundli milti hai (smiles). We have had a spate of very, very good releases together. But Stree would always remain special.”She further stated, “Abhi hum horror comedy aasani se bol dete hai, as if it’s one of the common genres. But it was Stree which defined this genre. It is often said that a studio makes Excel sheets and looks at the budget. During the release of Stree, we spent as much on promotion and marketing as much as the film’s budget! This is because we believed in the film, and we felt that it must reach far and wide.
