A PASSENGER whose luggage was stolen at a Florida airport used a nifty method to track down the alleged thief. Spirit Airlines traveller Paola Garcia was left scratching her head when her small pink hard-shell luggage never emerged on the carousel at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Florida. College student Garcia's distinctive bag was stuffed with several Apple products including a personal MacBook and two Apple Watches, Local 10 reported .

“In my mind, I’m thinking I need my computer because I go to the university, I need my computer no matter what,” Garcia said. After an agonizing two-hour wait and assurances from airport staff , Garcia cut her losses and headed home empty-handed. But just a day later, the passenger received a notification from an Apple Watch still in her possession - from a Fort Lauderdale property 15 minutes away.

Garcia dashed to the home of airport worker Junior Bazile, 29, and nabbed her bag before dialling 911. By the time cops arrived, brazen Bazile had reportedly disposed of many of Garcia's belongings. The Broward Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation - poring through footage of Bazile allegedly rummaging through the pink suitcase in the back of the retail store he worked at.

Bazile was arrested and charged with grand theft. Those convicted could fact between five to 30 years in prison and fork out fined ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. The victim says the accused thief may just be the tip of the iceberg.
