Minister of Tourism Sok Soken conducted a review meeting to take stock of the progress made of the upcoming Tourism Board at the ministry on Tuesday. A number of ministries as well as both public and private institutions took part in the meeting. Preparations and progress of the Cambodia Tourism Marketing and Promotion Board (CTB) which is being readied to be launched in the near future were analysed in the meeting to promote the launch of the board.

During the meeting, the operation plan and the structure of the CTB board were presented. Important documents were discussed and inputs were gathered from all sides. The CTB Articles of Association and internal regulations were taken up in the course of the meet, in addition to the resources.

The minister expressed gratitude to all participants and representatives of the different ministries for their active participation and invaluable inputs. He said their efforts in the promotion of Cambodia’s tourism sector would contribute tremendously in ensuring the ultimate aim of transforming Cambodia into a leading tourism destination would become a reality. There are several benefits that a tourism board can achieve, said Thourn Sinan, Chairman, Pacific Asia Travel Association Cambodia Chapter.

The tourism board can coordinate efforts to promote the destination effectively, boosting tourism and attracting visitors, he said. Also, it can work on improving infrastructure to enhance the overall tourist experience, such as transportation.
