A BUDGET airline has gone below basic, sending passengers haywire. The new airfare has customers so upset, many are expressing their anger. West J et Airlines , a low-cost travel option out of Canada , announced an "ultra basic" airfare.
While it includes nearly all of the amenities of regular economy, one missing piece has travelers angered. The airline sent out an email informing its clientele of the change, which had many disturbed. "@WestJet horrific email to send regarding #UltraBasic fare," one wrote on X .
"Implemented today, on fares I already purchased not knowing this information. Bad form. "Punishing the 'guests' — that’s what you used to call your customers.
"So angry about this. No carry on bag, back of the plane, brutal." WestJet's new UltraBasic fare is their basic cabin, but without carry-on luggage included.
Travelers who purchased their Basic ticket on or before June 3, 2024 will still be able to bring a carry-on, according to their website. John Weatherill, WestJet's group chief commercial officer, explained the change in a statement. "At WestJet, we take our responsibility for providing affordable air travel to Canadians very seriously, and our track record in doing so is unmatched," he said.
