A new art gallery fronting Cottesloe’s foreshore opens tonight, bringing an array of artworks as fresh as the sea breeze to the doorstep of Perth’s western suburbs’ art connoisseurs. Linton & Kay will mark the opening of its seventh gallery space in WA with a showcase of new works from emerging and established artists from across the country. Located on the ground floor of Curtin Heritage’s residential aged care facility, the gallery is next door to Perth’s new luxurious restaurant Gibney and shares the restaurant’s outlook of the beloved beach strip between Cottesloe and Leighton.

Offering PerthNow a sneak peek this week before its official opening, gallery directors Gary Kay and Linton Partington said the new space will offer a “breath of fresh air” to their well-heeled coastal clients and nearest neighbours. “A lot of our clientele are based here so it made sense to be on their doorstep,” Mr Kay said.

Mr Partington added: “There’s so many people who live at Curtin Heritage, so for a lot of them, it gives them a moment to actually escape and be amongst something beautiful.” Among the artists with work on display is Fremantle-based Bec Juniper, who has cemented herself within WA’s art scene over the past 25 years through her aerial landscape paintings of Australia’s Outback. “A lot of my work is kind of mimicking what happens in nature, from an aerial view,�.
