The Lord of the Rings star, 85, had been acting in a performance of Player Kings, which allows audiences to see William Shakespeare's Henry IV Parts one and two back to back. It has been reported by the BBC that Sir Ian lost his footing and fell during the performance and that the star subsequently required medical attention.

The audience was informed that the evening show had been cancelled and crowds hoping to see the famous actor in his element were then evacuated from the theatre. It has not yet been confirmed whether Sir Ian has sustained any injuries. Express.
