For example, you'll still have a phone you can use to make calls in case of emergencies. You'll be able to access important documents such as travel itinerary and insurance information. If you use MFA (Multi-factor Authentication) for anything, you'll still be able to get into your emails and you can deactivate anything connected to your original phone much quicker.
