Stanley was so named because the hotel is on the site of the Victoria skating rink where the very first recorded ice hockey game took place in 1875 and the very first Stanley Cup final in 1894. The lobby was demolished and rebuilt to create a completely new restaurant and public spaces like individual private booths in the waiting/sitting areas.

Sixth floor Terrace at the Sheraton, Montreal Sheraton The restaurant has a surprisingly cool vibe for a lobby bar in a large, business-focused hotel. Chef Alexandre Martin has done a fine job with his brasserie style menu that includes burgers, oysters and caesar salad and as well as excellent grilled octopus and tuna tartare starters. Originally from the Berry region of France, the Chef Alexandre Martin started his career at the Michelin-starred La Tour d’Argent, in Paris while his first Montreal job was at award winning Le Toqué.

There’s great live music on Wednesdays and the popular weekend brunch is accompanied by a DJ playing soul and funk classics on a sound system that is loud enough to create a fun vibe but not intrusive, making conversation still easy. Accommodati.
