A LOCAL living along the North Coast 500 route has slammed "selfish" tourists after her dog choked on their discarded champagne cork. The resident in Portskerra, in the Highlands , was walking her beloved puppy along the harbour which overlooks Melvich Beach when the terrifying incident happened. 1 The terrifying incident happened near Melvich Beach Credit: Alamy The puppy picked up the cork from a Moet bottle of champagne that was discarded on the grass and it quickly got stuck in her throat.

The dog's owner fumed after discovering it had been left just 50 meters away from a bin. And they slammed the tourists for not cleaning up after themselves after it could have caused a potentially fatal incident for her pup. The local posted anonymously on the Facebook group NC500 The Land Weeps to share their frustrations.
