Selena Gomez had her own family planning strategy, prior to her relationship with boyfriend Benny Blanco . In an interview with Time , the 31-year-old Rare Beauty founder discussed the period of time she spent alone and single before getting into a relationship with the music producer. "I was alone for five years, and I got really used to it," Gomez tells the magazine.

"A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it." The "Who Says" singer admitted that during her alone time, she envisioned a future for herself as a parent without a partner. "Then I came up with my plan," she adds.

"Which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone." Gomez, and Blanco, 36, confirmed their relationship in December 2023 . Prior to Gomez's interview with Time , Blanco revealed while speaking with Howard Stern that he was ready for marriage and kids with his girlfriend.

In her interview, Gomez reacted to her boyfriend's comments . "He can't lie to save his life. If he's asked a question, he'll answer it," she says.

While she didn't confirm a timeline for either marriage or children with Blanco, the "Love On" singer did assure that her boyfriend is here to stay -- despite what some of her fans might say. "I know what people can do to people I love. My own fans, who I adore and feel like have shaped who I am, will say the most hurtful things to me about how I live my life," she says.
