ROGERS -- The city has hired an arborist to assess damaged and hazardous trees in the wake of severe storms that hit the city over Memorial Day weekend. The city has begun tagging trees in the public right of way that need to be inspected with an orange tag, according to a news release from the city. The arborist will examine trees to determine if they can be saved.

Trees are also being examined to see if they are providing habitats for endangered species. The city expects hazardous trees to be removed about a week after tagging and examination, the release states. "As we move forward, we must publicly, and privately, plant trees to replace what was lost," according to the release.

"Rogers may not look the same immediately, but we can all agree that this is an important step to restoring the beauty of our community." Residents are encouraged to reach out to [email protected] with concerns about tagged trees..
