People across Greater Manchester have shared their reaction to the news that one of the city’s favourite pasta restaurants Rigatoni’s will be closing a third location in just the matter of a few months. On Monday (May 20), the popular eatery announced it would be closing its Ancoats site for good this weekend. Owners behind the restaurant said the last 12 months had been 'brutal to say the least' and that they felt they had 'failed' following a recent rebrand.
The restaurant started life in 2015 as Sugo Pasta Kitchen in Altrincham , but was forced to change its name to Sud a few years later . It later underwent a further rebrand at the start of this year , when it changed to Rigatoni’s with a simplified menu only serving one type of pasta. After this week’s closure of the Ancoats site, there will be one Rigatoni’s location remaining in Altrincham. Announcing the news, the restaurant - run by Michael and Alex de Martiis - said the decision to close its Ancoats site came following a ‘massive uphill battle in the midst of conditions that obviously have not been unique to [them]’.
