This week we’re playing the slots with Tipping Point Australia, hoping for more heat with the new Bridgerton, chortling along with the panel on Have You Been Paying Attention, rediscovering David Stratton (and wishing he was still on our TV screens) . . .
and giving Netflix’s new show about super-rich people living in Korea some serious side-eye. How has it taken me SO long to discover this weekday quiz show! It features two of my very favourite things: quiz questions, and that coin pushing game you play at Timezone! It’s the best! And sure, it’s a fine line between playing that and spiralling into full-blown pokie addiction, but I reckon this provides a happy medium. It sees contestants answering questions in order to play a giant version of the slot machine game, with the chance to win it big at the end.
It’s the most bogan TV concept you could possibly imagine — suffice to say, I am entirely there for it. The best worst thing on television right now. Journalism for the curious Australian across politics, business, culture and opinion.
Regular readers will know my love for Bridgerton runs deep. But I’m struggling to get behind this latest season, which is dedicated to the besties-to-lovers story of Penelope Featherington and the caddish Colin Bridgerton. Don’t get me wrong — I was living for their knee-trembler in the carriage, but their chemistry in the run-up to that scene was strangely .
. . lacking.
Things had better heat up soon, or I’ll be on the b.
