The Witcher star Henry Cavill will star in the highly anticipated reboot which will be directed by Chad Stahelski.
During an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Malta, Stahelski opened up on the exciting new project and said he will be heading to Scotland this week to scope out locations. Stahelski told Collider that he was aiming to have the film in production within a year, he told the publication: "We start shooting in January in Scotland, that's why I go right after I leave. I go to Scotland on Monday to do the final location scout.
" "It’s another opportunity to do a property that I love. I love what it's about, I love working with immortality and love stories through time. I think it's a good way to take a great period piece, and sci-fi, and mix them together.
" Released in 1986, Highlander starred Christopher Lambert alongside Sean Connery and filmed many of its key scenes at some of the country's most stunning locations. The British fantasy film followed the story of Connor MacLeod, a Highland.
