LOVE Island fans have noted one massive element of the series is missing - the challenges. Whilst viewers have been glad to see the back of messy food and drink games, they’re missing fun segments where the Islanders dress up in sexy costumes or when they expose home truths in classics like Mean Tweets. Now the real reason the challenges have disappeared can be revealed and it's because there is just too much drama.
A source has revealed that there are so many storylines naturally occurring among the cast, there has been no need to ramp up conflict or tension by exposing lies or by creating opportunities for snogs. The source added: “Execs are already spoilt for choice when coming to each day’s edit, the reality has just been so strong. “So there’s been no need to include challenges like usual.
“They’re already having to leave juicy stuff out cos they’re struggling for space. "Challenges aren't gone for good, but the focus is on using each episode to air all of the drama that’s playing out organically." In other years, the islanders have been forced to dress up for themed games away from the villa in order to win dates with their partner.
These included relay races with the cast dressed like sexy firemen, police officers, beer maids, or in Roman togas to go along with the tasks. A previous game, which has been completely axed from the show, was a tweet-sharing game where stars were given an insight into how the public really felt about them and their relatio.
