Rape of female player: Ju-Jitsu general secretary on remand Two accused including Bangladesh Ju-Jitsu Association general secretary Rafiqul Islam Newton have been placed on one-day remand in a case filed over alleged rape of a female player. After hearing on Sunday (May 19) afternoon, Dhaka's Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order. The other accused placed on remand was Rafiqul Islam Newton's assistant Sumaiya.

Earlier, investigation officer (IO) of the case Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station's sub-inspector Sakil Joarder produced the accused before the court and pleaded for placing them on a five-day remand. The lawyers representing the accused pleaded for granting bail cancelling the remand. After the hearing, the magistrate granted one day's remand.

According to the case statement, with the help of another arrested female player, Newton used to make physical relationship forcibly with other female players alluring and threatening them. The victim had been taking training on ji-jutsu under Newton over the last years. During the training, Newton harassed the victim physically on various excuses.

One day, the victim was confined by associate Sumaiya in a room during the changing of dresses after the practice. Then Newton was called in the room and he raped the woman forcibly. Then Sumaiya entered the room and took the nude photos of the victim.

Newton threatened the victim to upload her nude photos on social media if she told anybody anything else. Following .
