RANT to the school in my neighborhood that plays amplified rock music with a big beat during its various playground periods. Since when do elementary school children need something like this to “enjoy” their recess? Plus, it’s against the noise ordinance. I hear it INSIDE my home from 150 feet away.
Screaming children contribute enough to the din as it is. RAVE to my neighbor. I live at the northern end of Dexter Avenue and over the past year, this energetic resident has single-handedly restored the sidewalks and bike lanes leading up to the Fremont Bridge.
He has trimmed back the blackberries, skunkweed and other invasive plants that block much of the sidewalks. He has tilled the tree lawns and planted grass. He has shoveled mud and cut back vines and overhanging branches.
People running, walking and biking on both sides of the street owe him a huge thank you!.
