Schumacher has been in a relationship with Etienne for two years, according to close friend and reality TV identity Carmen Geiss. The former F1 driver was previously married to Cora Brinkmann, a fellow racer, from 2001 to 2015.

Their son David was born six months after the wedding. Schumacher raced in F1 from 1997 to 2007 during Michael’s era of dominance and enjoyed three seasons as a contender himself. He won three races in 2001, including his home German Grand Prix, and three more over the next two years.

Schumacher remains embedded in the world of F1 as a commentator and pundit. He received widespread support after his announcement, with his employer Sky Sport Germany offering a love heart on his post. Friends and well-wishers also rushed to comment.
