FROM hosting friends and loved ones to tucking into a tasty BBQ, it's little surprise that for many, the summer months are arguably the best time of year. But there are a few unwelcome guests that always have to ruin the fun - and they often come in the form of swarms of flies. As well as hovering around our heads in the warmer weather, they also target our bins.

..but it turns out there's a super simple way to stop them from nesting in our rubbish.

In the clip posted to TikTok ( @casadelacommodore ), a man named Dean shared a "quick and easy" tip to get rid of maggots and flies this summer. He begins by advising that you need to firstly clean your bin, before disinfecting it with the likes of Zoflora or bleaching it. Next, once the product has been thoroughly washed off, he recommends soaking some pieces of bread in vinegar - and points out that "any type will do.

" I do this every year..it really helps! He then places the soaked bread in the bottom of the bin, explaining: "The flies hate it so they won’t come near it and lay their eggs, so no maggots!" Alongside the post, he penned: "Relax and have a bug free summer.

"This is a great way to use up stale bread. "You can always add more pieces if the ones at the bottom dry up or just spray vinegar over the rubbish." The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 555k views and several comments from social media users.

"Thanks for the tip man," praised one person. A second commented: "I do this every year..

it really help.
