Octeen Energy and Coffee Bar held its grand opening event all last weekend after having a soft opening earlier this month. Owner and Quad-Cities native Douglas Tingley embarked on his first ever business venture with Rich Williamson after working through idea after idea until Octeen came to fruition. "I did some research, bought the domain about a year and a half ago, and started coming up with ideas," Tingley said.

"The shop came open and the location was perfect. I talked to the wife, she said go with it; I got a hold of Rich, we became partners, and the adventure started." The location, 1251 Avenue of the Cities, is the former address of Barkin' Beans Coffee Co.

, the pet-friendly café that closed earlier this year due to, according to their post, "financial turmoil." At Octeen, customers can expect a walk-up order window, a dual drive-through, and a patio with Wi-Fi to enjoy their drink outdoors. The menu includes the trendy and Utah-originated "dirty soda," which consists of a base of a soft drink like Dr.

Pepper or Coke, coconut creamer and lime or another flavoring. There's also an extensive list of energy drink concoctions, in flavors like gummy worm, mango tango, and the option for customers to create their own. There are also tried-and-true coffee or tea drinks, which also have their own customization options.

Tingley said the business' name is a play on words with "octane," and the fact that a large portion of their staff is 16 to 20-year-olds. Tingley and William.
