Thomas Boyle, 33, whose address was given as Mount Alverno in Belfast, appeared before Lisburn Magistrates Court charged with sending a menacing message via electronic communications. The court heard that on December 26, 2023, police received a report from a female that she had had a verbal argument with her boyfriend. There was an allegation that he was aggressive.

Whilst speaking with the police, the defendant sent a voice note to the injured party which was deemed to be of a threatening nature. The court was told the message said: “You are going to be a sorry wee girl, you’ll regret that.

” During police interview, it was reported that the defendant said he regretted making the call and was “angry and frustrated” and that he didn’t mean it to be a menacing message. Defence said: “It was a heated argument between two people in a relationship. Advertisement Advertisement "He admits he took a course of action that was unacceptable.

"He is a contributing member of society. He is not the typical attendee at this court. His temper got the better of him.

"He accepts the course of conduct he took is unacceptable.” District Judge Rosie Watters imposed a Probation Order for 12 months. During sentencing Ms Watters said: “To do that in front of the police, he obviously lost it with her.

” Ms Watters also warn.
