The 25th annual Nunavut Day is being celebrated Tuesday with events planned across Nunavut to mark the day. Here is a selection of activities people can take part in. Arctic Bay is hosting a barbecue as well as offering games and prizes near the community hall, according to a representative from the hamlet office.

In Igloolik, the local alcohol education committee is organizing a breakfast from 11 a.m. to 3 p.

m. After that, there are outdoor games from 1 to 6 p.m.

followed by indoor games from 6 p.m. onward.

A barbecue is also planned for the hamlet at 6 p.m. All events will be either inside or outside the community hall, said Qumangaapik Arnatsiaq, the hamlet’s recreation co-ordinator.

Rankin Inlet is planning to celebrate Nunavut Day at the AEM Arena from noon to 4 p.m. with a barbecue, kids’ activities and a live performance.

There will also be giveaways and prizes, according to a post on the community’s Facebook page. Cambridge Bay’s celebrations kick off at 1 p.m.

at Municipal Heritage Park and run until 5 p.m. There will be lots of food including hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, juice and fruit.
